The south of Ibiza offers everything a traveler could desire, from rustic restaurants to high-end beach clubs. Many who know Ibiza well, even claim that the best beaches are to be found on the island's south coast. Their white sand is ideal for sunbathing and the partly rocky landscape is ideal for snorkeling. Apart from the beach holiday, the south of Ibiza offers popular party hotspots, traditional places, hiking routes and historic sites. The south and southwest of the island is suitable for families with children as well as for young party animals or thos historically and culturally interested.

Culture meets adventure

San José is located in the southern interior of Ibiza and impresses with its traditional and tranquil atmosphere. The village is surrounded by a rolling countryside and invites you to stroll comfortably through the boutiques or on the farmers market on Saturdays. In front of the church and in the alleys you can experience the true everyday life of Ibiza and let the tranquility of the place take its toll on you. Around the village we find many villas for rent, where you can spend a relaxing and luxurious holiday in Ibiza. From the quiet San José you can reach the beach of the resort of Cala Vadella by car in a short time. You can also go there by bus in summer. The coastal road offers a breathtaking view over the clear water, which is ideal on the gently sloping beach for children to swim. The sheltered bay is a popular anchorage for private sailing yachts and motor boats. Here, family vacation meets luxury. A diving school, pedal boats and kayak rental offers a variety of exciting activities for the whole family. At the same time, this and other beaches in the southwest of Ibiza like the Cala Carbó offer a varied landscape. Pine-clad hills invite for walking or hiking, natural beaches with pebbles and sand score with its quiet atmosphere. Thanks to short stretches along the southwestern coast, it is relatively easy to switch between culture, adventure and relaxation.

From historic Ibiza to the nightlife district

In the south of Ibiza you can not only find beautiful beaches and turquoise blue clear water, but also see a lot of culture and history. Through the nature reserve Las Salinas, the famous salt fields of Ibiza, you can reach both the beach of the same name, where beach bars run groovy summer music, as well as Phoenician ruins on the beach of Sa Caleta. The UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the "heritage of humanity" testifies to the first signs of ancient culture on the island. The construction of the Phoenician settlement dates back to about 654 BC and inspires culture and history enthusiasts from all over the world. If you would like to continue on the historic tracks of the island, drive along the south coast to the pirate tower Torre des Savinar. The defense tower was built in 1763 and served as a protection against pirates. Even today, you can climb the tower and enjoy the stunning views over the sea and the famous Es Vedra rock. The path to the tower is quite steep though. Following the historic adventure, Ibiza Town, Playa den Bossa or San Antonio invite you to party and dance. The lively club scene is particularly appealing to young travelers. The port of San Antonio also offers boat parties, jet skiing and parasailing.

A beach for every taste

The southern part of Ibiza is said to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. In fact, you can discover different stretches of beaches in the region. Probably the most beautiful sandy bay of the island is located only a 15 minutes drive away from San Antonio. The Cala Conta is also easy to reach by bus. It even stops at various hotels along the way. A pedal boat rental provides activities for the whole family during the day if your children do not prefer to play in the gently sloping water. The turquoise clear sea invites also good swimmers and snorkelers to venture into the cool water. The rocky coast allows to discover hidden treasures underwater. If you prefer to go to a popular beach and away from family holidays, you can enjoy exclusivity on the gleaming white pebbles in Cala Jondal. The rather expensive beach has many good restaurants, some of which in live music is played. The popular beach clubs, including the famous Blue Marlin Ibiza, attract rich and famous people to mix and match. You can experience a lot in the bars by night or retire in your finca in Ibiza and explore the south the next day.
