Ibiza’s real estate market is developing a strength which has reflected in increasing prices, construction of new apartment blocks, a growing infrastructure in traffic as well as an increase in quality gastronomy. Fincas and villas on the island are sought after objects for foreign and Spanish buyers alike. Individualists, artists, the rich and the beautiful have chosen Ibiza as their playground. Ibiza is a cosmopolitan location and therefore attracts creative people who convert island homes into stylish residences.
Many of the mansions have 600
or more m² of living surface and the sea right at their feet. Impressive country homes, typical fincas with view to the marvellous Ibizencan landscape and the sea as well as Mediterranean villas near the coast are as much in demand as exquisite apartments or penthouse flats in the preferential areas of Ibiza-Town.
The residences in the D’Alt Vila quarter for instance, declared world heritage by UNESCO, are amongst the most sought-after ones. More and more often Ibiza is named along with the Cote d’Azur or Marbella. Celebrities love Ibiza as a hideaway with no paparazzi peeping over the fence.
With well known names in the neighbourhood the real estate prices keep climbing for houses as well as plots and of course for rentals.
The local government has restricted the possibilities for construction. A new legally binding land-use plan has been published indicating minimum sizes for construction plots. These vary between 1000 m² within municipalities and urbanisations and up to 80.000 m² in protected areas. Desirable properties are therefore scarce but sought-after. |
